From a highly successful season in which they were crowned champions of the Eredivisie for the 28th time, and also won the Amstel Cup (KNVB Beker). This was the debut season at Ajax of Swedish super striker Zlatan Ibrahimović. Other notable players included Rafael van der Vaart and Andy van der Meyde.
