Everton home football shirt from the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons, made by UMBRO. The summer of 1997 saw the return of Howard Kendall as a manager, but despite that Everton had to battle against relegation and only a better goal difference compared to Bolton kept them up. The next season saw a slight improvement under Walter Smith with a 14th place finish. Notable players were Dean Hutchinson, Marco Materazzi, Slaven Bilic and Duncan Ferguson.
